When Jersey is thrashed by force 7+ and the winds are variable and St Ouen is too messy to bother, many head for St Brelades as a mid to high tide option as it is more sheltered than the bays on the five mile west coast. Waves rolling in after low at the pier end can produce some good left-handers and toward mid-tide the beach can really work. On big days across the island, the beach can be clean and a good ride for beginers but surfing is restricted in the summer months as it is the islands biggest tourist beach...you'd probably fall off your board anyway with the amount of chest flesh on show...hell.
So it is ultimately a winter break, on blown out days at St Ouen, a good surf spot to fall back on when the five mile is unapproachable.

This bay is hardly ever pounded with waves. Swell never big enough, but when conditions are perfect, this is a classy place to be. Very busy in summer, best in winter in storms etc.

Known to the locals as Fayzars reef this spot is a very heavy wave holding up to 8ft swell at times. The name comes from the local legend (my brother) who surfes it Adam Fayzar. Defiantly worth a look if you are on the Island.
